One of the things that I don't do, when I'm writing fanfiction, is the outline. I don't write down character names, what they look like, what they do, anything, for fanfiction. Writing a book, I've learned, is a must. An outline has to be done, or your going to forget important info about your character. I also write the summery of the book, then I type up one location, several characters that I know will be in the whole book, and one, or two, items that will at least be in the first five chapters of the book.
I add locations, items, and characters as I move along. Until, at last, the book is finish. As for the summary. I believe that writing a summary allows me to not only remember what the book is about, but takes care of what it's about from the beginning. It keeps the flow of the book going and makes sure that I don't deviate from what I'm writing. Once that's done, then I'm off to write the first chapter.
Until next time.
